What Is the Gospel?
The gospel is the good news of what God has done through Jesus to save man from God's wrath because of man's sin. The content below will walk you through the big picture of God's cosmic move to redeem a people for Himself.
God Creates Man
The only true God who is holy created all that exists. In His creating He created man in His own image. Man enjoyed a unique relationship with his Creator in the Garden of Eden. Genesis 1
Man Falls
Instead of gladly obeying his loving Creator, man chose to sin against his Creator by choosing to disobey Him. Man falls from his sinless relationship with his God and incurs the wrath of God which is the curse of death on himself and being cast out of the Garden of Eden cutoff from the presence of God. Gen 2:15-17, Gen 3, Rom 3:23
God Sends Jesus
Although fallen and in rebellion against Him, God loved the world and sent His Son so that whoever will might be saved from His wrath. John 3:16-17
Jesus Redeems From God's Wrath
Jesus lived a perfect life of obedience to God so that He may redeem man from God's wrath by becoming the perfect sacrifice to pay for the sins of man. Isaiah 53 , 1 Peter 2:22-25 Through Christ's sacrifice God is both just and the justifier of those who come to Him in faith through Christ. Romans 3:10-26
Jesus Resurrection is Our Justification
Not only did Jesus die a substitutionary death on a cross to pay for the sins of man, He was raised for our justification. So not only can mans sin be forgiven be he can stand in peace before a Holy God in the righteous merits of Christ alone. Romans 4:25, Romans 8:1-4, 1 Thessalonians 1:9-10
Man's Response
Man is now called to repent of his sins and turn to Christ alone for forgiveness. Acts 17:30-31, 2 Peter 3:9 If man confesses Jesus as Lord and believes that God has raised Him from the dead he will be saved, saved from the righteous wrath of the Holy God. Romans 10:9-13, John 3:16-18
